Morsko dobro calls on special prosecutor to investigate suspicious high bids in Budva tender
, NewsThe Maritime Property Administration (Morsko dobro) has called on the Special State Prosecutor’s Office (SDT) to get involved in verifying bids with exceptionally high amounts for certain locations in the Budva municipality.
“Although the tender process has been progressing smoothly so far, we have noticed that some bids for locations in Budva have been submitted with extraordinarily high amounts, which has attracted media attention,” the statement reads.
Given the suspicion that these bids may not result from rational business decisions, Morsko dobro has requested the SDT to investigate whether the bids are a result of money laundering, an attempt to undermine the tender process, or truly rational business choices.
“We will decide on further steps in cooperation with the relevant Ministry and the Government to preserve the integrity and legality of the entire process,” said Morsko dobro.
They also mentioned that on the second day of the tender for location leasing in the municipalities of Bar and Ulcinj, a large number of bidders had lined up to submit their documentation, just as on the previous day.
“The second day of the process went flawlessly, giving us reason to expect a successful and transparent conclusion to this process,” the statement continued.
Morsko dobro highlighted that no state-owned company has achieved such business progress between two public calls before.
“After the first day, it is evident that revenues will increase significantly, further confirming the justification for increasing the starting lease prices,” the statement concluded.
