Montenegro’s customs revenue surpasses targets with significant increase in Q1
, NewsIn the first quarter, Montenegro’s customs revenue totaled €281.64 million, an increase of €24.6 million or 9.5% compared to the same period last year. The revenue collection exceeded the target by €13.45 million or 5%.
VAT on imports amounted to €191.17 million, an increase of 11% or €18.88 million compared to last year. Excise taxes generated €75.3 million, up by 4% or €2.97 million. Customs duties amounted to €14.47 million, a rise of 22.5% or €2.67 million. Other revenues, including coffee tax, amounted to €616.9 thousand and €85.92 thousand, respectively.
In March, customs revenue reached €104.2 million, a 7.2% increase or €7.04 million compared to the previous year.
The Customs Administration carried out 24,300 detailed inspections of vehicles and goods, identifying 109 irregularities, issuing 107 violation notices, and imposing fines totaling €76.8 thousand. Smuggled goods valued at €264.43 thousand were seized, along with €180.09 thousand and $60.81 thousand in cash. Additionally, 10 criminal charges were filed, and items including tobacco products, alcohol, and firearms were seized.
