, NewsThe companies One Crna Gora, M:tel and Crnogorski Telekom are qualified bidders at the spectrum auction, the Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (EKIP) announced.
EKIP’s working group for the preparation and implementation of the public bidding procedure determined at today’s session the list of qualified bidders, which consists of One Crna Gora, M:tel and Crnogorski Telekom”, the EKIP press release states.
In accordance with the documentation for the public tender, the start of the spectrum auction will be in the period from December 19 to 23 this year.
EKIP reminded that the activity of conducting the spectrum auction in question is determined by the Roadmap for the introduction of 5G mobile communication networks, which was adopted by the Government at the end of last year, and by the Regulator’s Work Program for this year.
The agency has shaped the process of assigning radio frequencies from the 700 megahertz (MHz), 3.6 gigahertz (GHz) and 26 GHz bands for public mobile electronic communication networks in accordance with certain goals to be achieved.
These are preserving and encouraging effective competition on the market of mobile electronic communication services and enabling a stable business environment for mobile operators and other investors.
The goal is to create conditions for the further development of mobile electronic communication networks and services and enable the implementation and development of advanced technologies, through the timely allocation of adequate frequency resources.
The goals are to enable the availability of broadband data transmission services of appropriate quality on the largest possible part of the territory of Montenegro, as well as to ensure the development of electronic communication services and infrastructure to support the social and economic progress of Montenegro.
“The goal is also to generate income for the budget of Montenegro from the allocation of radio frequencies that reflect the market value of the spectrum under the given conditions of allocation,” the announcement concludes.
