, NewsMontenegro and Italy are interested in further negotiations based on the project of the second interconnecting cable, announced the State Secretary in the Ministry of Capital Investments, Admir Šahmanović and the Italian Ambassador Andreana Marsella.
The interlocutors assessed that energy is, imperatively, a development opportunity for the economy, and further investments are a joint high priority.
As announced by the relevant Ministry, they agreed that the interconnecting submarine cable project with Italy is a great opportunity for the region, as it has long been recognized as a project for the fastest and closest connections with the European Union.
Šahmanović said that Montenegro aspires to become a safe and promising space for investments in the field of energy, which is one of the priority goals of the Government.
“We have made great efforts in the field of simplifying legislative and strategic procedures, all with the aim of creating a more favorable environment for attracting investors, especially in times when a strong energy infrastructure is a priority for the stability of a country’s economy,” Šahmanović said.
He said that he was satisfied with the visit to Marseille and the intentions to make the cooperation concrete through more joint projects.
Marsella stated that she was particularly pleased with the excellent cooperation of the Italian company Terne with the management staff of the Montenegrin Electric Transmission System (CGES) and added that Italian investors are also interested in projects for the production of electricity from renewable sources.
She said that Italy fully supports a healthy and sustainable development policy in the field of energy.
