European Union Energy Support Package for Montenegro will be well welcomed
, NewsThe official start of the implementation of the European Union (EU) Energy Support Package for Montenegro, worth EUR 30 million, will be marked tomorrow in Podgorica.
In the presence of Prime Minister Dritan Abazović and EU Ambassador to Montenegro Oana Kristina Pope, coordinator of the Ministry of European Affairs Ana Novaković-Đurović and head of the Department for Cooperation in the EU Delegation Ingve Engström will exchange the financial documentation required for the payment of the EU Energy Support Package.
Ministers of capital investments and finance, Ervin Ibrahimović and Aleksandar Damjanović, will attend the ceremony in Villa Gorica. After the exchange of documents, Abazović and Popa will address the media.
The Government reminded that the EU energy support package, in the form of a direct payment of EUR 30 million from the Union to the state budget of Montenegro, aims to help the country in the transition to green energy, but also to support vulnerable categories of the population to cope with increased costs of life caused by the war against Ukraine.
After the ceremony, the EU will pay the first tranche of the Energy Support Package in the amount of EUR 27 million. Payment of the second tranche, in the amount of three million EUR, is expected at the beginning of next year.
