EPCG to launch tender for 300 MWh battery systems by year-end as part of green transition plans
, NewsBy the end of this year, Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) is expected to announce a public tender for the procurement of 300 megawatt-hours (MWh) of battery systems, which are crucial for the implementation of the green transition, as announced by the company’s Chairman of the Board, Milutin Đukanović.
Speaking at the international conference titled “The New Era of Energy: Where Are Regional Electric Companies Today – Plans for the Future,” organized by the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce, Đukanović emphasized that EPCG’s business philosophy is built on well-established principles.
“The first principle is ‘produce where you consume,’ which has led us to develop solar energy production through the ‘Solari’ projects, which have already proven their profitability. The second principle we follow is to integrate and use the hydroelectric structure for connecting solar energy potential,” said Đukanović.
He also noted that EPCG is actively working on the implementation of the third principle, which is the development of battery systems.
Đukanović further stated that EPCG is heavily invested in green energy projects and receives full support from the Government of Montenegro in their implementation.
He participated in the first panel of the conference, which gathered numerous energy experts from the Western Balkans region.
According to Đukanović, in addition to the many solar energy projects currently underway or planned, EPCG aims to complete other major energy projects by the end of 2026. These include the construction of the Gvozd wind farm and the installation of the eighth unit at the Perućica Hydroelectric Power Plant.
