Consumer Price Index data for August: Montenegro reports a 2.2% yearly increase
, NewsMontenegro’s statistical agency, Monstat, has reported that consumer prices in August were, on average, 2.2% higher compared to the same month last year.
Compared to July, there was a 0.4% increase in consumer prices for August.
The monthly inflation was notably influenced by price rises in several categories: vegetables, accommodation services, short-term household maintenance goods, telephone and fax services, vehicle maintenance and repairs, meat, and dining out at restaurants and cafes.
From January to August, consumer prices have risen by an average of 4.3% compared to the same period in the previous year.
When broken down by major categories, August saw the following changes compared to the previous month: restaurants and hotels increased by 2.5%, furniture and household maintenance goods rose by 1.7%, communications went up by 1.5%, food and non-alcoholic beverages were up by 1%, other goods and services increased by 0.8%, housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels rose by 0.5%, recreation and culture by 0.3%, and alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and health services each by 0.1%.
Conversely, prices fell in the categories of clothing and footwear by 3.5% and transport by 1.1%.
Prices for other products and services remained relatively stable.
